How to sew a mei tai-

I was approached by a lady at whole foods wanting to know how i sewed my carrier SO....

here are directions-

first buy 2 1/2 yards of jersey cotton one-way stretch fabric- not all fabrics are created equal, make sure it is a strong fabric.
buy 1/2 a yard of a nice heavier weight fabric- think denim
and 1/2 a yard fabric in a matching calico (light weight cotton)
here is a photo of the carrier-

Now, the straps are sized as follows-
long (top)straps are 2 1/2 yards long, 7 inches wide ( cut your piece 15 inches wide, fold in half and sew your seam with a 1/2 inch hem....
looks like this-

and then your bottom straps are 2 ft long, 3-4 inches wide.
sew all four straps on a 2(stitch size) zigzag.
Now for the body, look at the first picture to get the general shape- my carrier is sized as so-
bottom of body is 15 inches wide (not including seam allowance) and 20 inches tall.
the 20 inches includes the rounded infant head support. if you want a square Carrier it will be about 17 inches long.
when you are ready to sew it together pin your straps inside the two body pieces (identical shapes cut out of the matching fabrics). to sew the stars in you need to reinforce the seams..sew twice and then made a third rounded seam to really strengthen it, like so-
