today's happenings

well today i set out to work on the duplex and got do do it )mostly) kid-free. i painted the first coat on the cabinet doors and cabinet bases. sounds like not alot, but there are alot of cabinets. I also spent a long time talking with a Realtor about listing the duplex and also purchasing a single family home after the sale. he was great and was very impressed with the duplex. YAY! he was pretty sure we could list at what i want to list at. YAY again!
unfortunately we don't have the skill/know how to do a few of the left over jobs on the duplex, so i am scrambling to find someone to hire to do them. i really want this duplex done and listed by the 15th. please please please
we are going to bust our this weekend, and hopefully it will pay off.

Praise God!

I have been busting my butt at the duplex everyday- except the eye-doctor day- and it is very VERY hard with all four kiddos. well i called up my friend with 7 kiddos today to offer her some of our left over tiling supplies. well... she offered, yes OFFERED to watch the kids (three oldest) ALL DAY tomorrow so i can work more or less unhindered. i will of course have a baby on my back, but he just comes with the package.
This news just makes my day. Amy is my angel of the week!!

eye doctor visit

so today we (me and kiryn) went to the eye doctor. It was his first time, and he was thrilled to go.lol
he wanted glasses SOOOO bad, and they were almost not going to give him a prescription (it was a very small amount needed in only one eye), but he really wanted it.
so i am ordering glasses today off this one website that has them inexpensive enough for me.
i didn't get a prescription for myself however, instead i get EYE SURGERY! yikes. but, it is the only thing they can do to correct my lazy eye. I can't wait to be rid of my self-consciousness that stems from it.
anyhow. i am glad we made it home safely from the eye doctors, as it is very hard to drive with your eyes dilated. yikes!
my friendwas the eye nurse who did our workup and she accidentally dilated my eyes instead of numbing them before putting this light thing on the eye bulb. well i was like "ouch!" and she thought i was just being a wimp. well she leaves, and i CANT SEE. everything is blurry and crazy. the doctor comes in and i tell her. turns out , yep, my friend screwed up. luckily i love her!
she is one of the three woman i know pregnant and due in November. i think the pregnancy is already taking her brain!

homeschool

Here is our homeschool set-up. kiryn's table and tristan's table.

here's some of what we are doing right now-
the boys are reading mostly level one books- you know "tom and jane ran up the hill.."
Tristan is FLYING through these and is moving on to reading various fliers and books he picks up. he just HAS it now.
Kiryn is getting much better at his reading, but he dosnt have it , or the flow down. it's still sounding out EVERYTHING>which is mighty slow. BUT , he enjoys reading out loud to me, so i enjoy his enjoyment.
We are using Abeka math-1st grade for both boys. this is definitely Kiryn's area.. We are doing single digit addition and subtraction-memorization, clock reading , money, ruler measurment and simple graphs.
their little minds are like sponges!

new photo gallery

i am so excited to have an online photo gallery to show you! i Miss all my family and now i can feel a little more connected. i have to say i am very proud of myself for getting my stuff together in one place ;)
please post comments on my blog if you can- so i know whos reading !
love you all!

Grocery day

yuck. grocery day. it can be quite a chore taking four kiddos to the store. there is always some point in the trip where both sebastian and lucca are crying, and i know someone around me is thinking- why on earth does she have so many kids.but, hey thats what its like living in a high tech town. four is a huge family. I still think it is small in the scheme of things. i mean, people have 12 kids- i only have 1/3 of that!!.haha
but seriously TLC is running a great series called "kids by the dozen" with stories of different large families. last night's family had -get this- 13, yes thirteen BOYS and one girl. as you can well imagine sports were a big part of their day...haha again
SPEAKING babies, i just learned that my only sister in law, Rashana is pregnant with #2!!! yay!!!!
she is due in nov, as are two of my good friends. must be something in the water:)

Did you read the article already?

here is the link to my article from the austin american statesman-

Check out my tile!

I hate the duplex :(

It has been and continues to be a horrible headache. Looks like my old high-school buddy Jessika is our newest in a long line of helpers on this project. We (and by we i mean Gabe and Jessika) are working on painting the duplex (interior) with a paint sprayer. It's great having my husband come home with a white haze. :)
