so , 6 days later than legally they had to post it- the midwifery board posted the slap on the wrist that Faith Beltz CPM received for her negligence.
here
quoted from above:
Beltz, Faith Midwife 04005 Austin 22 TAC §831.58, 831.65 and 831.131-Related to failure to complete the Informed Choice and disclosure Form required by state law for a client and failure to perform an initial evaluation on client and failed to initiate immediate emergency transfer for chorio-amnionitis. 6 mo Probated Suspension and $500 Administrative Penalty 2/7/11
if you listen to the audio recordings from Sept, you will hear how her lawyer got them to re word the law quoted there, to make her sound better *insert rolling eyes*

How insulting. I'm so sorry.
Seems like it should say "resulting in patient death."
I'd like to say it's better than nothing, but I don't know if it is. <3
That just is not enough for criminal negligence resulting in death-for any practitioner, in any setting.
I'm so very sorry :(
Again,
Liz - I know that I sound like a "broken record" - please write a book. Talk to the press. This is how you can keep Aquila's name "alive."
I agree with WPBD -- it's insulting. It is in no way enough for what she did/didn't do. I am so glad that Aquila has you to tell her story.
Agreeing with Anne. Write a book, really, it will give more people a chance to read your story.
It just isn't enough how they worded it, it never leaves the impression that Aquila died, or that there is an Aquila. For that I am so sorry. I too think it's insulting.
Liz, I would like to listen more to the audio files, I just can't right now. I will. And I won't stop praying.
((((hugs))))
Wow, how disgusting. Apparently the midwifery board believes a child's life is worth $500.
mary white- no her life was worth nothing to them, the 500$ fine was because she never gave me informed consent papers....
I was discussing this with some of my attorney friends -
this case was so mishandled.Have you considered going to one of the news programs ?
anne, feel free to email me kirynspiscesmama at gmail dot com
I wonder what the outcomes for some of those other cases were? Charts like that are eye openers. Please call me naive, because I really never thought about finding info. like that about prospective midwives. And, quite frankly, I am upset, Liz, that it looks like other mothers who had problems with their midwives got the same treatment as you.
BTW I love the title you picked for this post. So fitting.
I too was astounded at how many problems were presented and even more astounded when I googled one mw's name and it came up with no disiplinary action despite having been found guilty. So sorry Liz.
Sorry that I have not emailed you. Been very busy with sick little ones. Thought of you throughout day - though. Will be in touch. Good night.
I'm wondering what is keeping you from filing a civil law suit?
"failure to perform an initial evaluation on client and failed to initiate immediate emergency transfer for chorio-amnionitis."
So they did acknowledge these as major mistakes! And did nothing in response!
ccc, i wondered that as well. Were they all bad outcomes or near misses? If mom and baby have a good outcome, and the midwife fails to document it properly, or violates standard of care in some other way, is that ever investigated? Liz, did Faith provide you with the required forms when she attended Sebastian's birth?
sarah- no i did not receive or sign informed consent papers with sebastian's pregnancy either.
Everytime I think about this, I either want to punch the wall or throw up. This barely qualifies as a slap on the wrist. I had held out hope that you might find some measure of justice for Aquila, but this doesn't qualify. Faith should never, ever be allowed to deliver another baby again.
