i CANNOT decide on a math program for Kiryn. i am on the fence between Abeka 2 and math-u-see beta. the first will be following what we did last year (abeka 1) last year we bought the teachers manual and all the extras. i found everything but the workbook to be unnessasary. so to buy the new workbook $13.25. but a friend told me a friend used Abeka and her kid had to take remedial math in college....
the math-u-see program is awesome, but for the whole program i will shell out $85!!!
what do i do??? anyone have advice?

We use teaching textbooks.I dont know if they do his age or not.But we have loved it for our older girl.I used alpha omega for lane when she was his age.You could check it out.
We too have begun to use Teaching Textbooks for our high schooler this year. I believe they start their books right before Algebra. Up to this point (Algebra 1) we used A Beka with no problem. We have 3 others in A Beka still (k-3) I only bought the workbooks as well, much cheaper and it seemed to work well for us.
